CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- Crews have been searching Lake Conroe Sunday for a missing Montgomery County man. Search efforts will resume Monday.
Divers with Precinct 1 in Montgomery Co. and the North Montgomery Fire Department searched through the water to find 24-year-old Justin Oeltjen. Low temperature have forced them to take breaks about every twenty minutes for their own safety.
The dive teams are searching for Oeltjen after his truck crashed through the guard rail around 4am Sunday at FM 1097 near Blueberry Road. A passerby saw the hole in the guardrail and Oeltjen's family became worried when he didn't come home. He was seen at a restaurant Saturday night. Dive crews recovered the truck and a piece of clothing that could be his but so far they haven't found him using sonar and line searches.
Captain Rusty Fincher with Montgomery Co. Precinct 1 Constable's Office says crews search around the vehicle and there were no results.
"So we finally brought in a barge that has a crane on it and we lifted the truck out of the water, nothing in there," Fincher said. "We continue to search."
According to investigators, there are no witnesses who saw the accident, but they are going from the families information and believe he was alone when he crashed through the guard rail. The rail was just replaced a few months ago, so the captain says the truck would have to be traveling pretty fast to go through it.
