HOUSTON -- Eyewitness News has learned no one was hurt when a school bus crashed into a home in southwest Houston Wednesday morning. The house is located at Golden Glen Drive near South Kirkwood.
The bus plowed into a front bedroom. The couple inside were in another room at the time.
No students were on board when the crash happened. We're told the driver had just started her route, on her way to her second stop. The students she picks up attend Yes Prep West.
The driver also wasn't hurt. It's unclear what caused her to crash. First Student, the company that owns the bus, says it's looking into why the driver lost control.
Shelly Rivas' two high school students were waiting for the bus at its second stop.
"We're waiting for the bus and it doesn't come and one of the parents said wow this isn't normal," Rivas said.
She heard from a another parent the bus had crashed. Rivas told Eyewitness News her kids have complained about the driver in the past.
"They were shaken up, shaken up. (I'm) glad that they weren't on the bus. Then they started telling me about the problems, that she hits the curb," Rivas said.
A spokesperson with Yes Prep schools says no formal complaints have been filed against the bus driver in the last six months.
