Rice Village construction affect stores
Business owners say construction project is hurting Super Bowl business.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- This is the week when Houston restaurants look forward to the extra business Super Bowl LI might bring.

However, some eateries in the Rice Village area are dealing with a headache.

Restaurants in the 5500 block of Morningside are blocked behind a large construction fence and now, they are trying to let people know they are still open.

The construction has affected these three businesses the most:

  • D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe, located at 5510 Morningside in Rice Village

  • Nao Ramen House, which just opened in December

  • Hopdoddy Burger Bar, an Austin chain on the verge of opening

The construction has closed off the space between the restaurants and the street, eliminating the parking there and giving the appearance there is no access to the restaurants.
