HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Neighbors remained on edge Friday afternoon at "The Primrose" senior living complex in NW Harris County.
With tears running down her face, Michelle Arrizola told us about an early morning attack. She claimed a rapist broke down her mother's back door in her apartment before attacking her.
"Around 3 o'clock in the morning, she heard some banging on the back porch door. By the time she was able to get out of her bed and run to the living room, he was already in the apartment and snatched her from behind," said Arrizola. "As soon as she was able to make it out, after he burglarized her, after he beat her, after he sexually assaulted her ... she made it to her neighbor's."
Eyewitness News spoke with neighbor, Jacqueyn Jackson. She was still overwhelmed by what transpired in the early morning around 4 AM.
"She said Jackie, he raped me. He raped me. Jackie, he raped me," Jackson said. "We are in crime alley ... and they are targeting us senior citizens."
Arrizola, Jackson, and neighbors claim security needs to be tightened. They all claim the front gate hardly ever works and for the most part remains open around the clock. Property managers confirmed the gate wasn't working Friday morning. A spokesperson for Primrose Heritage Park didn't answer any specific questions about security, instead providing ABC-13 with the following statement:
The statement went on to say they are fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Those at the Harris County Sheriff's Office didn't return our requests as of 5:30 Friday for more information about the incident, whether investigators have a suspect, or are closer to having someone in custody.
