Triple shooting: Person questioned
A person of interest is being questioned after a triple shooting in Wharton, TX

WHARTON, TX -- Wharton detectives are investigating a shooting that left three people injured late Friday afternoon.

Neighbors say they heard at least 20 gunshots fired successively in the parking lot of the apartment complex on Kingston and Dunraven Lane.

"It was like pow, pow, pow. Real loud," Delilah Robles described.

"I hit the floor immediately," says Laura Zamora.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 5pm, according to Wharton Police Chief Terry Lynch. When they arrived, officers found two men shot and learned that a third had been driven to a nearby hospital emergency room. All three victims eventually were flown to a Houston-area hospital.

Detectives are interviewing a person of interest and witnesses. Right now, they believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument. Neighbors say one victim was just working on his step-son's car when he was shot.

An investigation is ongoing.
