Police seek fatal hit and run driver
A woman was killed after being struck by a hit and run driver near the Galleria area

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident along the 610 West Loop northbound feeder road at Richmond.

The victim, a pedestrian, was crossing the service road of the West Loop around 6:30am when she was struck by a green Infinity sport utility vehicle. According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle reportedly stopped, exited the vehicle and then got back in the SUV and drove off.

"As I sat at the stoplight I saw a vehicle proceed through the intersection and it was dragging a body," said eyewitness David Sternbaul.

A witness told Eyewitness News that he saw the body of a female woman being dragged a short distance behind the vehicle that hit her.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the victim was homeless.

Police are now searching for the driver described by witnesses as an African-American or Hispanic male: 6 feet tall, weighing 200 lbs, wearing a baggy shirt and pants. Witnesses also say he is unshaven and balding. He was last seen driving northbound on 610.
