Three suspects in a pawn shop robbery were arrested Tuesday in Eleanor Tinsley Park

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three robbery suspects are in custody, arrested by officers in Eleanor Tinsley Park near downtown Houston Tuesday.

It all started mid-afternoon at a pawn shop on Washington Avenue at Durham. Police say a masked armed man robbed the place and went out to a waiting car.

An HPD undercover detective saw what was going on and followed the car to Eleanor Tinsley Park, where three people - two men and a woman - were arrested. Their takedown was fortunately uneventful.

"I was really surprised there wasn't a car chase or maybe the suspects fleeing into the apartments across the street on foot," said Sgt. Gregory Henson with the Houston Police Department. "You never know which way it's going to shake out."

Taken from the suspects' vehicle was a 9mm pistol and a bag with a lot of cash inside. An employee we talked with couldn't comment, but said he's glad to know there was an arrest made.
