Americans reportedly chant 'build that wall' in Cancun
The Yucatan Times said the alleged display was offensive

CANCUN, Mexico (KTRK) -- They were chanting "build that wall."

A Mexican newspaper said some unruly American college students caused a ruckus over spring break, chanting the line during a family 'pirate' show in Cancun.

The Yucatan Times says in a new op-ed that the incident is far from isolated, and that Mexican workers and tourists have reported similar incidents recently.

A newly-married couple's honeymoon was reportedly spoiled by the display. The Times reports it all happened on "The Pirate Ship," a show played out on a boat in the middle of the ocean.

The paper said residents and tourists alike were shocked when the chanting began, and called the act "totally unacceptable."

Some American tourists were said to have complained, but the chanting continued.

The chant mirrors those shouted at rallies for then presidential candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 election.
