One person shot during armed robbery in Channelview

CHANNELVIEW, TX (KTRK) -- Three armed robbers are on the loose after shooting a convenience store clerk during a robbery in Channelview Tuesday morning.

The armed, masked men ran into the Super Quik Food Store on Woodforest at Dell Dale at about 11am, and one of them jumped over the counter and forced the clerk to the ground. The gunman then shot the clerk and the three robbers ran out of the store and drove off.

Store employees say the clerk was stable at Memorial Hermann Hospital; the bullet apparently passed through his neck.

A surveillance camera captured a truck that's believed to be the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot. It looks like a red or maroon, older model Ford F-150 pickup truck that's missing a tailgate.

Surveillance video shows the robbers were in and out of the store within a matter of minutes.

The store is located next door to a fire station and across the street from two Channelview Independent School District elementary schools. The district brought in deputy constables to patrol the campuses, as a precaution.
