HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A suspect is in the hospital after nearly running over a police officer.

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call around 9pm last night at the intersection of Holloway and Roandale. Police were told a man had been arguing with his mothers and then fled the scene.

Then the three officers arrived at the home, the suspect was nowhere to be found and a warrant was issued.

Police returned to the scene around 2am and spotted the suspect sitting in a car. When they told him to get out of the car, he refused, police say, and then drove his vehicle straight towards the officers pinning one officer between his cruiser and the suspect's vehicle.

All three officers then drew their weapons and opened fire on the suspect. The suspect was shot multiple times but still managed to drive across the street before stopping his car in someone's front lawn.

The suspect got out of his car and then surrendered to police. He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in unknown condition.

The officer received minor injures. He was treated and released at Memorial Hermann.

The suspect now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
