HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman lost her home and car to an early morning blaze, but she lost one of her treasured pets as well.

The fire broke out this morning in the 3800 block of Reid Road in northeast Houston.

Two dogs were in a kennel when the homeowner had to evacuate the burning home without time to reach them. One dog died, but firefighters were able to resuscitate the other.

Houston fire crews were on the scene, blocking the northbound feeder road of the Eastex Freeway near Kelley. The house appears to be a total loss and the car next to the home is also burned.
