Mother and son both injured in stabbing
Deputies are trying to sort out how both victims were injured

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A mother and her adult son are in critical condition after an argument that turned physical. Now investigators are working to figure out which one of them pulled out a knife, and why.

Deputies spent five hours collecting evidence at the family's home and trying to figure out what happened.

Neighbors were taken by surprise after seeing more than a dozen Harris County Sheriff deputies pull up to their street.

Just before noon, authorities responded to a double stabbing at the 19000 block of Fort Davis Court. A mother and her son stabbed each other, say deputies, and both were taken to the hospital in critical condition via Life Flight.

"Her son, we did know he was a little troubled he was in and out of that house. She would take him back, help him," said neighbor Jenny Dorantes.

Deputies say the son was on drugs and for some unknown reason attacked his own mother.

As deputies recovered a knife outside the home, neighbors looked on wondering what could have led to such a gruesome scene.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the victims. The mother is said to have been rushed into surgery Monday afternoon.
