Long Island mom opens door for trick-or-treaters, becomes victim of home invasion

FARMINGDALE, NY -- A mom who thought she was opening the door to trick-or-treaters became the victim of a home invasion on Long Island Friday.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, around 9 p.m., the 34-year-old woman opened the door to her Beach Street home in Farmingdale after the doorbell rang and found three adults outside wearing masks. They forced their way inside and demanded that the homeowners sit down.

Her husband refused to comply and was pistol whipped in the head. Both victims were then bound at the hands and feet with duct tape.

Two more suspects joined the group and began to ransack the home.

The woman was able to free herself, grabbed her 2-year-old son who was also in the home at the time, and ran next door to call 911.

The five suspects then fled; it is unclear what was stolen.

The husband was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The subjects were described by Nassau police as:

-- Male black, 5'8"tall, 200 pounds with a white mask and dark clothes.

-- Male black, 5'9" tall, 180 pounds with a werewolf mask, black clothes and armed with a handgun

-- Female black, 5'8" tall with a thin build, afro hair and wearing goggles.

-- Male, possibly white, 5'9" tall, 200 pounds, armed with a handgun.

-- Male black wearing a wool hat and a mask.
