Abilene mom holding two-week-old shot in head

ABILENE, TX (KTRK) -- A woman was shot in the head as she held her two-week old child yesterday.

Police say the woman was killed by the baby's father, her boyfriend, who also shot himself in the head. Police initially thought he was dead, but he regained consciousness and attacked officers, who used a Taser to subdue him.

The baby has a hand wound from the same round that killed the mother.

The couple's 4-year-old daughter was not hurt.
