HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston mother accused of brutally stabbing her young son and mutilating his body is now charged in the northwest Harris County attack.
Jenea Ann Mungia, 23, is now charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily harm.
The 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
In Probable Cause Court this morning, a prosecutor read the charges and the judge decided to hold Mungia without bond.
The prosecutor told the judge the mother stabbed her son throughout his torso, had blunt force trauma to his head, and his private parts were partially mutilated.
Kimberly Myers, a neighbor who left behind a stuffed toy near the house where the boy was stabbed, said, "I hope the doctors can make him well and he can come home and be with the family, but I hope that the mom gets help and whatever else she needs. My prayers are just with the little boy right now."
