Man's body found at scene of car fire in NE Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A charred SUV and a man's body were discovered in this scrap yard in northeast Harris County around 11am Friday

Harris County officials confirm one person is dead at the scene of the fire, in the 11600 block of Hartley Road, near Keith Weiss Park, but beyond that, police remain tight-lipped about what happened.

A witness tells Eyewitness News that he heard a loud boom. That witness says he ran to the back of the scrap yard and found found a jeep engulfed in flames. On the ground was a man's badly burned body.

Detectives have not said if they believe this was a homicide or a suicide, and they have not identified the victim.
