Papa John's promises its customers better ingredients, better pizza, but how about less advertising?
A California man has filed a lawsuit, claiming he was getting way too many text promotions from the pizza giant. He said he never even ordered pizza from Papa John's.
According to the lawsuit reported by another media outlet, Jonathan Anozie started getting texts from Papa John's in March of 2016, offering him discounts on pizza.
He said he replied, "Stop" to the first message, which is the way to opt out of promotions, according to the Papa John's website.
Now, Anozie is seeking $500 for each unwanted text message he received. According to the lawsuit, he was "harmed and suffered damages" as a result of all the text messages.
Anozie's attorneys claim that the amount of messages he received after allegedly opting out violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
