HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was shot and killed in front of his wife, and the killer may not be charged.
It happened in southwest Houston on South Gessner near Stroud.
Police were originally called to the scene for a domestic disturbance. Police say a woman was attempting to get away from her husband after a party when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the corner of a house.
The homeowner, hearing the vehicle hit his home, armed himself with his handgun and went outside to investigate.
The homeowner came outside to speak with the woman, and that's when the woman's husband showed up.
Jason Robles, of the Houston Police Department, said, "The husband, running up the street, shirtless, running towards him. The homeowner is telling him to stop. He has something in his hand, a dark and shiny object, and fearing for his safety -- the husband didn't listen to his commands to stop -- and ended up shooting him."
Police say the husband died.
The wife was taken downtown for questioning.
No charges have been filed at this point, but detectives say the shooting is still under investigation.
