HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A mangled car marked the site of a bad crash in a northwest Harris County Walmart parking lot. Its driver is in serious condition, but witnesses say it could have been much worse.
According to investigators, the driver, a man in his 50s, was traveling westbound trough the parking lot. Witnesses say he appeared to have passed out, hit the accelerator and hit an 18-wheeler. The car then spun around and hit another vehicle.
"There was a family that was parked in front of the store to use the handicapped parking. They were trying to enter the vehicle," HCSO Sgt. Mike Harvey said. "After he struck the back of the 18-wheeler, his swung around and hit their vehicle, but they were not the area."
We're told the driver is still in the hospital, but is breathing on his own and expected to recover.
