Authorities searching for elementary school flasher

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- As school recessed for the day, a truck pulled up near the intersection of Garden Oaks Boulevard and Sue Barnett. What happened next has drawn in law enforcement.

According to a neighborhood crime alert issued for Garden Oaks, a man got out of the truck and pulled down his pants in view of young girls leaving the elementary school. He apparently left on his underwear. After that, the report states that the man got back into his truck and sped away, driving toward West 34Th Street.

On Thursday evening, the park was full of children with attentive parents looking on. None to whom we spoke had heard of the flasher.

On the softball field, a team of young girls -- the same age as the ones said to have witnessed the man accused of indecent exposure -- practiced for this weekend's softball game. One mother said it's unexpected in such a neighborhood, then added, but these days it can happen anywhere.

A couple walking their dog was equally surprised.

"This is a neighborhood full of stay-at-home moms. If they saw him, they'd take him down," one resident said.

The team's coach Ruben Hernandez said he might have considered similar action had he been around when it happened.

"I probably wouldn't have been able to control my anger to be honest with yo. I would've called the cops and done the right thing but if I would have able to catch the guy I would have caught him," he said.

And his team has plenty of bats.

The suspect is described as a white male, middle aged and was wearing a red shirt and pants.

His truck is said to be an older model gray pickup, possibly an import.

Anyone with information is asked to call police, or the Precinct One Constable's Office, which is investigating.
