CORPUS CHRISTI, TX -- Corpus Christi police say a man who reported his car stolen has been arrested on suspicion of stealing it from someone else.
Twenty-year-old Juan Saenz told police Saturday a man accompanied by a woman pulled a gun on him and demanded he surrender his car. The couple subsequently was picked up based on Saenz' descriptions and he then identified them in a police lineup.
But Lt. Karl Wright tells the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that when officers recovered the car, they determined it had been stolen from Saenz's former girlfriend. That led to Saenz's arrest on a felony charge of suspicion of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He's jailed under $10,000 bond. Police say the man and woman who stole the stolen car from Saenz also are jailed.
