Cannabis career institute comes to Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Voters in seven of eight states voted "yes" to various cannabis measures on Election Day, and some people believe that Texas could be next.

On Sunday, the Cannabis Career Institute held an all-day seminar teaching aspiring cannabis entrepreneurs how to get started in the field, educating them on starting a dispensary or cultivation business.

It all depends, however, on whether or not the Texas legalizes marijuana.

"We are here to help Texans surf through all the legal issues for medical marijuana, and someday eventually recreational marijuana," explained Gary Maciel , of the Cannabis Career Institute.

"We're very successful in many, many states and so we're here to help the Texans develop their economy in this new emerging industry that eventually will be legal here."

The Cannabis Career Institute is scheduled to return to Houston in the new year.
