A suspect was airlifted to the hospital after being shot as federal agents served a search warrant at a home in Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) -- Federal agents along with undercover Houston police officers stormed a Sugar Land home this morning. Investigators told Eyewitness News they were in the process of serving a sealed warrant when things took a violent turn.

According to Special Agent Wendell Campbell with the Drug Enforcement Agency, the incident happened at 1903 Rosewood Lane.

Authorities went to the door, looking for the suspect. A woman at home said he wasn't home, but during a search, they found the suspect hiding in a room. When he wouldn't surrender, an officer shot him.

Paramedics airlifted the injured man to the hospital. He is expected to survive from his injuries.

The shooting is now being handled by Sugar Land police. Doug Adolph with the department said the man was shot in the stomach. According to Victor Sentiles with HPD, an undercover Houston narcotics officer fired his weapon.

Investigators refused to offer specifics about why they were at the home, saying only it is part of ongoing federal investigation with the DEA and ATF.
