Kayak thief captured on Lake Conroe

CONROE (KTRK) -- Lake Conroe Patrol immediately searched for a man that was reported to have stolen a kayak from the Water Oak subdivision earlier today.

A 15-year-old girl saw a man out in back of her home stealing a kayak and immediately shot photos of him. The home owner went to confront him and he fled with the kayak on a bass boat the thief was operating.

That's when he chased and found the kayak thief in one of the canals with the kayak.

They attempted to block the thief and that's when he pushed the kayak off his bass boat into the water and sped past the owner.

The owner was unable to keep up and called the Conroe Police.

A DPS Trooper pulled up to April Point Marina where he spotted the suspect pulling his boat out of the water.

The kayak thief is being booked in the Montgomery County Jail on theft charges.
