Suspect arrested at Fulshear bank drive-thru as victim is reporting wallet, check theft inside

FULSHEAR, TX (KTRK) -- The odds seem unlikely in one crime this past week. In fact, Fulshear police officers say the odds took even them by surprise.

Investigators said a crook with a stolen check appeared at the Wallis State Bank on Monday morning, trying to cash it. At the same time, the account owner was inside warning a teller her account might be hit.

Police chief Kenny Seymour said in 25 years on the job, this arrest stands out.

"Stupid, Number 1 is that you tried it. No. 2, that you did it 30 seconds from a police department. We've got a pretty good response time," said Chief Seymour. "I don't think this person was up on his episodes of CSI, Law and Order. I assure you."

Seymour identified the man as 21-year-old Garrett Crenshaw.

Investigators said a teller called police, they responded quickly and arrested Crenshaw. He now faces several charges stemming from his trip to the bank.
