HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An innocent man is dead after getting caught in the middle of a shootout in east Houston.

Police say two men started fighting around 1:15pm at a washateria on Buck and Waco. They both went outside, then started shooting at each other.

A third man got caught in the crossfire. He was hit, ran into the laundromat where he collapsed and died.

The suspects took off running.

"We are in the process of identifying those two individuals who did the shooting, but obviously it's an unfortuante incident," HPD Homicide Sgt. Steve Straughter said. "We don't know what caused this altercation but we do know it's been an ongoing deal."

Police say they're confident they can identify the suspects.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses for more details.
