HOUSTON (KTRK) -- HPD detectives are investigating the death of a person whose body was found inside a car at a west Houston park.

The discovery was made at Cullen Park in the 18000 block of Groeschke Road.

The road leading into the park is still underwater and closed. No one has been back there since the Tax Day floods. Police believe the body has been back there all this time.

Two men were riding bikes Tuesday evening when they smelled the odor and noticed the car. They went to check it out and saw the man's body inside the car.

"It's a pretty isolated area. You can't make it there through the normal park entrance because it's still flooded. The service entrance is locked with a gate so unless you have a key to that gate or you go back there on foot or on bicycle, you can't get back to that area," a Harris County Sheriff's Office Lt. Larry Crowsen said.

Homicide detectives and the Houston Fire Department is at the scene to investigate.
