Driver of stolen car jumps train in attempt to get away

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A moving train was involved in a suspected car thief's run from police.

Investigators say the suspect stole a Chevy Tahoe from the Chilos Seafood and Restaurant Bar on Edgebook near the Gulf Freeway late last night.

Police spotted the vehicle a short time later and chased the suspect from southeast Houston to the northeast side of town. The suspect ditched the vehicle on Wallisville Road at Sam Wilson Street and then hopped onto a slow-moving train. Police say the suspect then jumped off the other side of the train and ran off into a neighborhood.

Police used a chopper and K-9 unit to search the area and found him. He now faces car theft and felony evading charges.
