HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Firefighters responded to a fire at the LyondellBasell refinery in east Houston on Wednesday.
The fire started at the refinery on Lawndale Street around 7 p.m. According to LyondellBasell officials, the fire was confined to a cooling tower and posed no threat to the community.
The refinery is one of the largest in the nation for processing products like jet fuel and lubricant.
The company's spokesperson says that there was no need for a shelter in place because there were no chemicals in the air.
The refinery remained open during the fire.
No injuries were reported.
