Homeowner kills suspected burglar in his southeast Houston house

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A homeowner shot and killed a suspected burglar in his home in southeast Houston last night.

The homeowner told police he heard breaking glass around 3:10am and decided to check out his house on Malmedy near Cherbourg.

The homeowner told police when he went downstairs, he caught the burglar red-handed in his kitchen.

It's not clear at this time what happened in the seconds before the homeowner pulled the trigger, but he shot and killed the burglar.

The homeowner lives with his disabled father.

The case will be referred to a grand jury for possible charges.
