Home invasion suspect, victim wounded in southwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The resident of a home in southwest Houston fought back during a home invasion early this morning, managing to get his gun and shoot a suspect, according to police.

Authorities say when two suspects broke down the door of his home in the 7700 block of Corporate Drive near Sharpcrest, the resident managed to grab his gun and shoot one of the suspects. Though one of the suspects shot back, police say the other suspect ran from the scene.

Two children and two other adults were in the apartment at the time of the home invasion.

Both the resident and the suspect were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
