Gunshot victim found dead in doorway of apartment in W. Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We have an update to the murder of a Houston man at Dairy Ashford near Briar Forest Road.

Houston police say there were reports of gunshots here at the Briar Meadow apartment complex around 11pm, but nothing came of those reports.

Then, this morning around 3:30, the roommate of the victim came home from out of town, opened the apartment door on unit 103 and found his roommate dead in the foyer.

The roommate then called HPD.

"He was returning from out of town, been out of town for about a week, was returning this evening about 3:30 and found his roommate in the front foyer," says HPD Sgt. Thomas Simmons.

No word at this point on suspects or the reason why the man was shot.
