FRIENDSWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- Some high school students were briefly evacuated from classes Thursday morning, thanks to confusion over a nearby fire.

At about 9:12am, the Forest Bend Fire Department responded to a building fire at the Best Shot Shooting Range located in the 4400 block of FM 2351. Fire crews arrived and found smoke and fire coming from a building connected to the shooting range in an area where ammunition is reloaded.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation," said Captain Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.

Nearby Clear Brook High School was evacuated after a teacher noticed the smoke coming from the building across the street and called the front office who initiated the fire alarm. After the school learned there was no danger, all students were allowed back in school.

No smoke entered the school building. There were no injuries.
