GREENVILLE, SC (KTRK) -- Four middle school girls were arrested on Tuesday after they were accused of having child porn.
Greer Police Lt. Cris Varner said, "Hopefully it was a lesson, very unfortunate, but hopefully it is a lesson to watch what you post, watch what you even video."
Four Riverside Middle School girls are arrested and charged with having child porn and disturbing school. Another 14-year-old is now arrested for criminal sexual conduct after an 8th grader who was drunk was sexually assaulted over the weekend, WSPA reports.
Police say the teens were using FaceTime on iPhones to actually show the sexual assault as it was happening. That's when they say another teen was actually recording that sexual assault and sent it out to dozens of other students across several Greenville county schools, local station WSPA reports.
Kristina Millner's daughter also goes to Riverside Middle, and says others tried to share the video with her.
Millner said, "Within a group around her and she just didn't want any part of that."
Millner says the district should bear some responsibility because of the loose cell phone rules in schools. She said, "If kids didn't have their cell phones at school, maybe they would still have the pictures, you know they may still get in trouble but at least they're not going to be bringing that crap into our school, and influencing other kids."
And while five students could now face jail time, Millner tells WSPA she is looking into homeschooling her daughter to protect her from these incidents. She said, "It adds to the whole environment that school is not the safest place to be sending our kids as much as it used to be."
