HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Another water main has broken in the Galleria area. The latest break is at Richmond Avenue near Sage.

The eastbound lanes of Richmond are closed between Sage and Rice.

"Kind of shocked that this whole thing required a canoe to take to work," said Galleria area resident Curtis Crow.

Alvin Wright, of the Houston Public Works & Engineering Department, said the break is a six-hour job and some people in the area won't have water temporarily. Also, three lanes of traffic are affected, and Metro representatives were on scene due to the bus route in the area.

Wright added that lines break all the time for various reasons, and that crews typically take care of 150 to 175 breaks a day citywide. He said the latest break isn't necessarily related to the two breaks we've seen on Westheimer this week after a 12-inch water main broke twice on Westheimer.
