Funeral arrangements set for former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Funeral arrangements have been set for former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier, who passed away Saturday afternoon at the age of 89.

A service will be held at 11am Tuesday in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons funeral home at 1010 Bering Drive, according to the funeral home's web site.

Immediately following the service, a private burial will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

Lanier served three terms as Houston mayor from 1992 to 1998.

The family has requested that all contributions be made to either the Texas Heart Institute, MC 3-116, PO Box 20345, Houston, TX, 77225; or the Fort Bend Boys Choir of Texas, P.O. Box 2042, Stafford, TX 77497.
