The fire at a west Houston townhome sent residents fleeing for safety

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A fire in the night at townhomes in west Houston sent residents running out into the streets.

The fire started on Bering Drive near Westheimer around 9:30pm.

The fire department says everyone made it out OK. But the flames gutted the townhome and destroyed the garage which had two cars parked inside.

It's not yet clear how the fire started.
