Female driver misses bridge, ends up on bayou bank in NW Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities say a female driver missed a bridge in northwest Harris County, and landed on the bank of bayou early this morning.

The accident happened on Jones and Louetta Roads around 2am.

A family who happened to be passing by saw the woman veer off the road and call for help.

The family rushed to her aid, but one family member says they couldn't do as much as they hoped.

Witness Daniel Laurant said, "We went around the other side to get to the vehicle and see what we could do for the person, but all we could do was turn off the engine off and wait for help to get here."

The driver was airlifted to the hospital.

Laurant believes if they did not stop, no one would have seen the wreck until the morning.
