SPRING, TX (KTRK) -- The FBI Violent Crime Task Force is asking for the public's help in identifying a serial bank robber suspected in at least five Houston-area bank robberies this month.
During the robberies, authorities say the male suspect handed the tellers a threatening note demanding money. Although there have been no reported injuries, officers are concerned about the potential of violence because the robber has said he'd shoot if he was not given any cash. In each robbery, police say the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The latest robbery happened Friday afternoon at the Amergy Bank on Stuebner Airline Road in Spring. Investigators believe the suspect is also responsible for the following robberies:
June 1, 2016: Prosperity Bank - 3205 College Park Drive in The Woodlands
June 15, 2016: Shell Federal Credit Union - 4787 Wilson Road in Humble
June 23, 2016: Capital One Bank - 9455 North Sam Houston Parkway East in Humble
June 27, 2016: BBVA Compass Bank - 1532 Spring Cypress Road in Spring
Witnesses describe the robber as a white male with slim build and is between 20 and 30 years old. For each robbery, he wore a different button-down long-sleeved shirt with a baseball cap. In the BBVA Compass Bank robbery, witnesses told police he left the area in an early 2000 Honda Accord.
Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at (713) 222-TIPS or the FBI Houston Field Office at (713) 693-5000.
