Father struck, killed by cab in front of his family in Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A father was hit and killed in front of his own family in northeast Harris County.

Authorities tell us the victim's minivan had run out of gas on the Eastex Freeway near Little York.

Investigators say he was trying to push the van onto the shoulder when he was struck by a taxi cab.

The man's wife and four children -- who were all inside the vehicle at the time -- were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cab driver was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation.
