DAYTON, TX (KTRK) -- A Liberty County man who is recovering from a gunshot wound is now facing charges. This, after deputies say he and his female roommate got into a fight over a lock on her bedroom door.

Jonathan Holmes Hunt, 41, is charged with assault deadly violence and criminal trespass. According to deputies, on Monday morning, he and his female roommate had an argument over the lock on her door.

According to Hunt's roommate, Hunt wanted to change the lock on her door so that he'd have access. The two argued about it and according to the roommate, Hunt kicked in her door.

That's when she said she grabbed a pistol and fired three shots at Hunt, hitting him once in the leg.

When deputies arrived, there was no door on the roommate's room. Investigators say Hunt told deputies that he didn't kick the door in, that another unknown man who was in the house took the door and left.

Deputies say there was evidence at the home that a door had been kicked in.

Hunt was treated at the Liberty/Dayton hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg and then placed in the Liberty County Jail. He is expected to be brought before a judge Tuesday morning for a bond hearing.

No charges are expected to be filed against Hunt's roommate for the shooting.
