HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is in critical condition at Ben Taub hospital after he was shot by a convenience store clerk.
Harris County sheriff deputies say the man entered the Shell Station on Greenwood Forest at West FM 1960 last night and began tearing stuff up inside the store. The clerk on duty confronted the man and asked him to leave, but the unruly customer refused.
The clerk called the manager who came to the store. When the customer still refused to leave, the manager retrieved a gun from his car.
The manager told deputies the unruly customer then pulled out what he thought was a box cutter, so he fired a shot, striking the man in the stomach. The customer was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he is expected to survive.
Deputies say it's unclear at this point if the manager of the store will be charged.
