Deputies investigating death of woman found in apartment

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Harris County investigators have detained a young man and his mother after the man's girlfriend was found dead inside his northwest Harris County apartment overnight.

Authorities received a call around 2:30am about a possible dead body at the Park Falls Apartments on Park Row.

When investigators arrived, they found a woman in her 30's dead inside her boyfriend's apartment that he shares with his mother.

"Her boyfriend reported waking up and discovered her deceased laying on the floor," said HCSO homicide investigator Ben Beall.

Authorities say the victim's boyfriend, who according to a family friend is 19 years old, lives at the Park Row Apartments in Katy with his mother. Deputies say the victim was there visiting the teen and say right now they are trying to figure out what happened during that visit.

"We do have some obvious signs of trauma to the girlfriend's head," Beall said.

"Hopefully the trauma turns out to not be something where she was really harmed by someone she trusted," nearby resident Bria Richard.

Neighbors say are uneasy and have a lot of questions.

"You don't just die or get harmed in any way without there being someone else that was involved," said one neighbor.

So far the boyfriend and his mother have not been named as suspects.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
