DEER PARK, TX (KTRK) -- If you're driving in Deer Park, better put your cell phone down.
Beginning this week, police will ticket drivers if they are caught texting or driving or using any electronic device behind the wheel.
A city ordinance passed over the summer went into affect October 1. Until now, drivers were only given a warning.
Police began issuing tickets for cell phone use on Sunday. If caught, your fine could be up to $200.
The city says drivers can still use a hands-free device.
