The Coast Guard assisted two people to safety after their plane crashed in a field three miles northeast of Ellington Field, Tuesday.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., two Coast Guard Air Station Houston aircrews that were conducting training in the area overheard a radio transmission from a pilot stating that he had lost engine power and was going down.
An aircrew observed the small single engine aircraft emergency land in a field nearby.
