HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities are at the PlazAmericas shopping center, formerly known as the Sharpstown Mall, after a car drove into the southwest Houston building.

It happened around 2pm after a police officer tried to initiate a traffic stop. Police say the 15-year-old driver was speeding and ran a stop sign and then drove into the mall parking lot. The officer had his lights on but backed off to try to get the driver to slow down. The teen jumped out of the car before it crashed into a mall entrance.

Police arrested the driver at the scene but the passenger has not been located, even after using a K9 officer for a quick search inside. No one was hurt in the crash.

Police are "fairly certain" the two suspects were involved in a robbery early Friday morning when the crashed car was stolen from a woman at an apartment complex.

The car was quickly towed away from the scene and the entrance is blocked off for repairs.
