Burglary suspect shot by police in southwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is in the hospital after police shot him in what is being described as a burglary in progress.

The officers involved shooting happened in the 10200 block of Amblewood in southwest Houston.

Neighbors told eyewitness news they saw that suspected burglar running down the street with officers following close behind telling that burglar to stop.

According to neighbors, they heard several gunshots as the suspected burglar approached the fence of the house.

Police say a suspected burglar was shot in the leg after officers believed he was reaching for a weapon in his pants.
