Brazen robbery attempt caught on camera
A Houston couple's leisurely walk home from a late dinner Saturday night took a terrible turn just blocks from their house

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston couple's leisurely walk home from a late dinner Saturday night took a terrible turn just blocks from their house. A mask-wearing, gun-toting man tried to rob them and it was all caught on camera.

This happened Sunday around 12:15am at the corner of Roy and Rose.

The couple, who did not want their names used, was walking home from nearby Washington Corridor when the attack happened.

"The four-door Cadillac rolls up on us and the passenger jumps out, he's got a ski mask on," recalls the husband. "He points a gun at me, and we scream, he hops in (the car) and they drive away."

The entire frightening confrontation lasted just a few seconds, and was captured on the surveillance video of a nearby patio home. In the video, you can see a car pull up to the couple, and they start to scream.

"We screamed and kind of ran to the back of that car, as you can see from the video, and he jumped right back into his car, and drove away."

The couple was not hurt. They called Houston Police, and gave a description of the brown Cadillac. Unfortunately, since the suspect was wearing a mask, there is no good description of him. A second suspect was believed to be inside the car as the driver.

Alice Smith lives right next door to where the incident happened. She says the street gets a lot of traffic and some drunks because of its proximity to the Washington Corridor. As for more serious crimes though, she was more philosophical.

"I do what I can to protect myself," said Smith. "Then I realize I live in a big city and those are the risks I run."

Houston police says it currently has no suspects on the case. If you have any information on this case, you're being asked to call authorities.
