HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 4-year-old boy is in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital after shooting himself in the head.
Just after midnight Tuesday, Bryson Hernandez found his grandfather's gun and started playing with it when the gun accidentally discharged.
Neighbor Jessica Villalpondo calls the shooting a tragic accident.
"Tragic and completely preventable, which is the saddest part of it," Villalpondo said.
Top Gun General Manager Rees Williams says guns really need to be locked up.
"It needs to be locked and inaccessible to anyone who's not authorized to have it," Rees Williams said.
Cable locks, which are free, is encouraged for those to keep guns locked up and away.
It will be up to a grand jury if misdemeanor charges will be filed against the adults inside the home.
Child Protective Services is also investigating.
