Body found in White Oak Bayou

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston homicide detectives are investigating a body found early this morning in the White Oak Bayou.

Road crews working on the I-45 North Freeway directly above the White Oak Bayou Hike & Bike Trail spotted the body. Workers tell police they just happened to look over the overpass with a flashlight when they spotted the body face down in the water.

Houston firefighters and police were both called to the scene to use a boat to retrieve the body. The identity of the person and cause of death are still unknown.
